December 28-29, 2006- Ft. Wayne Indoor Rumble

The Ft. Wayne Indoor Rumble was the debut of the "Puzzle Car" color scheme on my Lt. 160 car. Dad used all the leftover vinyl scraps from last year and cut puzzle pieces out of them. This was a great solution because there are a lot of flaws on the car body, and the vinyl covers it well. I got A LOT of attention for my new look in this car.
The Ft. Wayne Indoor Rumble was also significant because of my performace on the track. Many of you know that I had a tough 2006 season, full of mechanical problems and a series of strange accidents. Given these problems, I was more than happy with my performance on the track at Ft. Wayne. This race was also significant because my team owner offered me a bonus based on how I finished. I earned my first money from racing.
May 20-21, 2006- Taylorville, IL Regional/States Race

Photos: (l. to r.) Zachary is all thumbs up prior to the start of his heat race; Zachary is running in second place (second white car from the right) and is making his move to pass on the inside for the lead; Zachary leads the field around the track with the second place car pictured in turn three (blue car near top of track).
As Zachary was leading the field to the checkers, and preparing to lap 2 more cars, there was a wreck in front of him that drifted down on top of him. His nerf bar snapped off the car, taking him out of the race completely. Here Zachary holds the broken nerf bar...FYI on a good nerf bar all the corners are right angles! Many other handlers visited our trailer later to comment that they had never seen a nerf bar snap off before.
May 7, 2006- Promotional Event at Kokomo Speeday
